If you’ve been outside either yesterday or this morning you likely have seen the balloons in the sky above Northern Reno. Well if you didn’t already know, yesterday was preview launch marking the beginning of this years Great Reno Balloon Race. This event brings a large crowd to Reno every year, bringing in about 120,000 people from all over the world. With more than 100 hot air balloons taking flight over the 3 day main event period, The Great Reno Balloon Race is The World’s Largest Free Hot-Air Balloon Event!
If you haven’t already gone, don’t worry there are still two more days of activities you can go to.
The event schedule for Saturday and Sunday are:

Saturday, September 12

  • 5:15 a.m. – Glow Show
  • 5:30 a.m. – Dawn Patrol
  • 6:45 a.m. – Mass Ascension Launch
  • 7:00 a.m.-8:30 a.m. – Pajama Party
  • 7:00 a.m.-8:30 a.m. – Bed-Head Competition Judging
  • 4:30 a.m.- 10 a.m. – Shopping along Balloon Boulevard

Sunday, September 13

  • 5:15a.m. – Glow Show
  • 5:30 a.m. – Dawn Patrol
  • 6:45 a.m. – Mass Ascension Launch
  • 6:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. – Sign up to be Girl Scout!
  • 4:30 a.m.- 10 a.m. – Shopping along Balloon Boulevard

So if you haven’t already been this year, you should grab your family or some friends and head out and catch the glow show(5:15am) and watch it all the way to the end(10:00am). It is a wonderful event that brings a beautiful sight to the Northern Reno sky. Even if you’ve been there before, it is worth going again to watch all these balloons fill the Reno sky with color.
